Pair of award winning chrome plated steel rod 40/4 stackable chrome and brown vinyl covered sheet metal chairs by noted industrial designer David Rowland. He trained at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and then opened his own office in 1955 working on this stacking chair for eight years. Regarded as the gold standard of stackable chairs not only for their stackability but for their comfort and durability. Featured in museums worldwide it won the Grand Prize at the Trienalle in Milan, Italy in 1964 and the AID International Design Award in 1965. It was named the 40/4 because of it’s ability to stack 40 chairs in 4 feet height. Price listed is for the pair
